Growing up, many of us expected to work till we were about 65, and then retire to hopefully (and possibly quietly) enjoy the rest of our old age. But along the way, things changed. Today, many people are not only eschewing retirement and happily enjoying their second and third acts, some are even embarking on new careers in their 80s and beyond.

According to astrologer, Virgina Bell, we are aging differently from the way we did in the past―we are not only living longer, we are also staying healthy and vital for longer. What’s more, at the age of sixty, If we live to be sixty, a whole other realm of consciousness opens up to us. From that point on, our hearts, souls and minds have the opportunity to enter realms that are inaccessible to those who have not lived long enough to go there.

In her book Midlife Is Not a Crisis, Bell reveals how we can use astrology to empower us to live more fully, joyfully and happily in the second half of our life. Says Bell, “The generational cycles we all share at certain ages – from the (often dreaded) Saturn Return which occurs at around 29 and Midlife to the Uranus Return which occurs around the age of 84 – are the great crossroads of life. Strung together, these cycles offer a road map to life’s most challenging and rewarding passages, as well as opportunities for creative change. Moreover, the key to successfully navigating each phase of our second half of life journey can be found in understanding the planet that rules each cycle.

This week Virginia Bell joins Sandie to discuss how we can use astrology to find renewal of purpose and unique opportunities for self discovery at every age.

Virginia Bell started out working in the film business; first as an actress and then a story editor and screenwriter. She owned one of the first natural foods restaurants in NYC.
