The Camino with John Brierley
John Brierley

Known as the Camino, the Santiago de Compostela Camino is a famous pilgrimage that has been undertaken by people for centuries across northern Spain. It is said that this 500-mile path lies directly under the Milky Way and that it reflects the energy of the star systems above it.  Fueled by Shirley Maclaine’s best selling book of her own inner and outer journey while “walking the Camino,” and Martin Sheen’s and Emilio Estevez’s movie THE WAY, this ancient pilgrimage has become increasingly popular in recent years.

In this episode Sandie and John Brierley will discuss:

*The reasons behind the modern renaissance of pilgrimage
*The historical background for the network of pilgrim pathways through Europe, known collectively as the caminos de Santiago
*The crucial difference between pilgrimage and hiking
*The inner journey towards Self-discovery and service…
*Life changing stories from the road… and more

John Brierley spent his early life in Dublin where he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and set up practice in 1971. Following an existential crisis he joined the legendary Findhorn Foundation in Scotland in 1987—a move that was to prove a pivotal time in his life with a reordering of priorities towards a spiritual perspective.

In 1996 he convened the international conference ‘Business for Life’ where the core issue was identified as the crisis of the human spirit and the search for meaning in life. The idea of Business sabbaticals as an antidote to burnout and pilgrimage as a way to reappraise life's purpose became his abiding passion. In 2000 he undertook the renowned Mount Kailash pilgrimage in Tibet. The first edition of the Camino Guides was published in 2003 with over 100,000 copies sold and now printed in several foreign languages.

Welcome to my world! I am so glad you stopped by and felt comfortable enough to join the conversation. I hope you will come back often - the weather is always sunny here (mostly), and the views are... well, whatever your reality makes of them.
